Nickel Lodge pledged to sponsor the 4H Community Garden again back in January. This year the 4H club pooled all the sponsors so that everyone is representing the entire garden. The money goes to buying supplies, building new plots, etc. The taller garden boxes are new for 2019.
Bro. Leonard adds, "there was a late start to this year, but with the heat/sun and plenty of regular watering from the 4-H members, the garden has been doing extremely well. Things like radishes and lettuce are making regular trips to the BlueDoor and vegetables like beans and tomatoes will soon fill the harvest basket. I am most excited to see how the squash and potatoes (a first time) will do. Added to the garden this year also were several accessible table height gardens for those with mobility or physical limitations. The garden chairs and benches also make this an inviting place to relax and read a book."
